The chaos of 2020, gave way to a rollercoaster 2021—given the massive changes it brought with it, almost every month. From the anxiety during the second wave of the pandemic, to the soaring optimism as the virus receded and things regained some semblance of normalcy, this year has been full of learning.
At Harappa, we’ve effectively implemented a hybrid work model, achieved some audacious hiring goals, strengthened our senior leadership and challenged ourselves to give our learners the best of everything we have to offer. The insights we’ve gained from our learner behaviors is a constant testament that we’ve effectively achieved all that we had set our eyes on… and more!
We’re constantly learning from the insights we derive, so most of all, we hope 2022 will bring us the fearlessness we all need to work towards a better future.
IS THERE A GOOD TIME TO LEARN? OUR LEARNERS SURE HAVE THEIR PREFERENCES!
The time a learner spends on the Harappa platform is indicative of how engaging the content is and how relevant the learner finds it. We’ve been committed to constantly improving our content, into which we’ve put in a lot of effort, over the last two years. The fact that we’re seeing a year-on-year increase in learning times is something that makes us immensely proud and happy.
THE WORLD OF WORK AND ACADEMIA ARE STARTING TO THINK ALIKE
Our flagship event, Bridge, was about bringing the world of work and academia together to solve India’s unenviable employment and talent needs gap. One of the most important discussions was about the skills that employers look for in young talent. We’ve noticed that the two worlds have started to think alike in terms of the skills that they need. This significant insight shows that educators are starting to understand the kind of skills that their students need to become more employable and successful professionals.
THE PANDEMIC HAS ALTERED PRIORITIES AND WORKING MODELS: INTRODUCING A WAVE OF WORKPLACE CHALLENGES
The past 18 months have been some of the most turbulent times for the world. The pandemic has altered priorities and changed the way people think. According to a McKinsey report, we’re living in the age of ‘The Great Resignation’. Managing teams in a hybrid setup has been the single most important skill that organizations have had to learn. Keeping all of this in mind, It is not surprising that the transition from co-worker to manager, understaffing and decreased productivity has been the top challenge that the mid management employees have faced at the workplace.
UNIQUE LEARNER PERSONAS, UNIQUE LEARNING PATTERNS
At Harappa, our learners are at the core of everything we do. Understanding learner behavior is key to improving our offerings and tailoring content to needs and requirements. The bulk of our learner population can be categorized into three very unique personas—Bingers, Munchers and Snackers. Each of them are unique with the time they spend on our platform, the pace at which they complete their assignments and their preferred day and time for learning.
VARIED EXPERIENCES LEAD TO VARIED KNOWLEDGE REQUESTS
Much of the feedback we’ve received has included knowledge requests from our learners. The requests vary depending on the stage of the learners’ career. Each of these requests is an insight into the kinds of issues that plague our learners at their place of work. Efficient execution of tasks, business continuity with organizational change management and influencing teams and making better decisions have been some of the most sought after knowledge requests we’ve seen.
