Most Common Types Of Interviews

Many people find job interviews very stressful. Do you catch yourself thinking, “I wish they would just hire me without an interview”? Or do you feel your poor performance in an interview kept you from getting your dream job? (Alprazolam)

Don’t worry. Interviews are high-stakes interactions, but you can prepare for them in advance and increase your chances of success. See the interview as an opportunity rather than an obstacle to your dream job.

Try to think of it this way—the interview gives you one more chance to prove that you are the perfect person for the job.

Traditionally, a job interview involved meeting the hiring manager and discussing your qualifications and experiences in person. Today, employers use different types of interview formats used by employers to gain a better idea of the applicants and what they bring to the table.

It could be a group discussion, an informal interview, or even a meeting at a cafe. Don’t be surprised if a prospective employer uses many different kinds of interview formats to evaluate your skills.

As they say, practice makes perfect. Familiarize yourself with the various types of interview methods to put your best foot forward. Let us discuss an interview and its types in detail.

Five Different Types Of Interviews

  1. Conventional Face-to-Face Interview

The good old face-to-face interview is one of the most important types of interview methods preferred by hiring managers. In-person meetings continue to be popular because they are efficient and leave little room for doubt in the minds of hiring managers.

An interviewer can assess the technical qualifications as well as the soft skills of an applicant to see if they will be a good fit in the organization. These interviews are also beneficial for applicants. In a face-to-face interview, you get a chance to meet some of the people you will hopefully be working with.

  1. Phone Interview

Phone interviews have become increasingly popular recently. In fact, this is of the most popular types of job interviews in our remote, digital-first world now. However, it has its own set of roadblocks that you may have to navigate.

Say that you get an unexpected call at 9 a.m. from the hiring manager of the company you applied to a week ago. First, remember to stay calm and start with a simple greeting to get things rolling. Second, ask questions when appropriate. Finally, don’t be afraid to take a moment and breathe.

  1. Video Interview

The current remote working scenario has turned the spotlight on video conferencing as a critical communication tool in the workplace. Organizations are conducting job interviews over Zoom or Google Meets.

Think of your video interview as a conventional meeting without the hassle of finding your way to the office. As long as you have a working internet connection, all you need to worry about is pacing yourself, asking the right questions, and communicating your responses effectively. Remember, you can make a video interview as effective as an in-person meeting.

  1. Task-Based Interview

If you apply for a job in a creative field such as design, writing, or art, you may be asked to complete a task based on the job requirements. In fact, many technical fields like engineering, marketing, and sales also have a task-based interview component for applicants. Don’t think of this step as extra work. Remember, these different types of interview methods are simply additional opportunities for you to showcase your skills.

 You can prepare for such interviews in advance by polishing your skills. Feel free to ask questions if you don’t understand something while doing the task. Make sure you double-check your work for errors before submitting it!

  1. Panel Interview

For many, an interview with one hiring manager is nerve-wracking enough. They may dread the idea of facing a panel in an interview. And with good reason. When it comes to the different types of interview formats, a panel interview can be the most challenging.

You may have to answer questions from each member on the panel. You feel multiple pairs of eyes observing you. But don’t worry. You can crack a panel interview by staying calm and being yourself. If you start getting anxious, remind yourself why you applied to the organization in the first place. If you’ve made it to a panel interview, you have a great chance of bagging the job!

Keep Practicing

There is power in repetition, and there is power in practice. If you know what you want and you are confident in your ability to get your point across, you can do well in an interview.
