An early adopter of the wonders of the web, Sanjeev Bikhchandani’s career has been marked by his ability to track down a potential success story. It’s this foresight  that led him to cofound Info Edge Solutions, which entered India’s fledgling consumer internet space in 1997 with Naukri.com.

This job search portal’s success inspired a generation of young entrepreneurs to believe in the potential of consumer internet-based businesses in India. It also inspired Sanjeev to venture beyond online classifieds. Today, Info Edge runs several websites that are household names: 99acres (real estate), JeevanSathi (matrimony) and Shiksha (education), employing 4,000 people across 43 Indian cities.

Info Edge also carries out strategic investments in promising Indian internet companies, including Zomato and PolicyBazaar—two of India’s unicorn start-ups, as companies with a valuation of $1billion or more are known.

Sanjeev brings the wealth of his experience to the boards of many of the start-ups he invests in, including Zomato and online travel portal Make My Trip (MMT).

Passionate about making a difference in the Indian education space, he is a cofounder and trustee of Ashoka University, a globally renowned liberal arts university near New Delhi.

In recognition of his impact on the consumer internet space, the Government of India honored Sanjeev with a Padma Shri in 2020.
